The new industry body representing Cayman’s tech sector has taken its next step by electing the organization’s first full Executive Committee at its AGM on October 28th. Mr. Blair Lilford of SALT Technology Group has been elected as Digital Cayman’s first President. Blair will lead a group of technology, finance, legal and risk management experts towards achieving the new body’s objectives as it aims to both put Cayman on the map for international tech companies as well as the improve the way that technology improves all aspects of business, government and life in the Cayman Islands.
“I am honoured for this opportunity to lead Digital Cayman through its next important growth phase” said newly elected President Blair Lilford.
Lilford added, “The Cayman Islands has an amazing opportunity to thrive as a centre of excellence for tech companies and the new Executive Committee will meet soon to prioritise some of the many areas already identified by Digital Cayman to progress towards a more efficient and digitised economy in the Cayman Islands.”
In addition to Mr. Lilford as President the other Executive Committee members are: Alee Fa’amoe (Vice President), Sandra Castelo (Treasurer), Adam Lambert (Secretary), Polly Pickering (Director), Charlie Kirkconnell (Director), Chris Wall (Director), Paul Byles (Director) and Vlad Logvinov (Associate Director).
Digital Cayman is a dynamic industry body cultivating economic development and providing a voice for the Cayman Islands’ Digital Sector. The concept was presented in late 2018 at the breakfast forum of Cayman’s Digital Economy Conference (CYDEC) and gained momentum with significant support from its 3 founding Executive Committee members, Paul Byles, Charlie Kirkconnell and Chris Wall. After a number of meetings with several industry members the body was formed and registered as an NPO in late 2019.
The new body’s founding sponsor and partner is Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) which has supported Digital Cayman since its inception under a multi year partnership.

“We supported the concept from day 1 because we believe that promoting technology will add value to this jurisdiction from both an economic and social perspective”, he added.

This body is something that the Cayman Islands needs at this stage because objectives such as being a SMART island or finding ways for technology to make our lives better need to materialise into actual initiatives led by able persons such as those within Digital Cayman’s membership base. The membership has increased significantly since being formed and with their talents plus Blair’s leadership and the excellence on the new Executive Committee I am confident that we are about to see some exciting developments” added Byles.
